My team and I decided together what style we wanted to approach for the ebook. We searched online for some inspiration and found a soft illustration style that we felt was most appropriate for the wedding theme. Aside from that, we decided on a General color scheme too. We went for a more rustic color scheme with beige, brown and maroon because we want the ebook to be on the genre neutral rather than feminine. Though people might say that ultimately the bride picks, the group’s stance is that a wedding planning is something that both the bride and groom should partake in together. My individual role for the project was the illustrator because I had the most experience with the Illustrator software. A few things has to be catered to what I am able to illustrate within the short time span we had to complete the ebook. Some of these changes were made because I wanted to start on the graphics early and came up with my own designed. This will be elaborated on later. For the cover page, ...

I decided to work on an infographic about the bubble tea industry in Singapore because I realised that a lot of articles you find online are about the more lifestyle aspect of it, such as new stores coming to Singapore and new flavours. I search for reports about the industry and decided to focus on the history of bubble tea in Singapore, the customisable parts of bubble tea, a few statistics and the top brands in Singapore. I wanted to keep the layout clean and organised and placed my information in a very linear, top-down layout. During the first critique, I was told to play around with different elements and to make the information more streamlined, in the sense that I talked about Singapore specifically or the global scale. However, having a horizontal timeline made the text very cramps and hard to read. Thus, I rearranged it to a vertical timeline. I removed some of the information I initially planned to use due to the lack of space and instead chose to focus on the t...

My story was inspired when a friend mentioned that hamster poop reminded her of chocolate sprinkles. So, my story is about a dinosaur who uses poop as chocolate for a cake he bakes for his girlfriend. Going left to right and top to bottom, the dinosaur feeds a smaller animal. As it eats, it poops. The dinosaur collects the poop. He then goes to the kitchen and prepares some baking goods and bakes a cake. He decorates the cake with a piece of animal poop that looks like a chocolate truffle. He then serves the cake to his girlfriend, who appreciates the effort. As my storyboard didn't specify camera angles, I took the photos from angles that I felt best depicted what the character was doing. I used mise-en-scene to better tell the story as well. For example, for the last photo, I used a candle to create a romantic mood. However, I did realise that I didn't play with angles, only tweaking them slightly. The final photos I chose were the ones I felt flowed the best. Howe...

The pattern I drew consists of asymmetrical wavy lines. The pair of lines are mirror-images of each other to ensure balance. The first pattern had curvier lines and two pairs. The second has six pairs and the pairs were not as wide, compared to the first. This pattern repeats until the last one, wherein the lines are much narrower and there are many more lines, making it darker as well.

The object I decided to abstract was a PS4 controller because it was through playing PS4 games that I formed close relationships with my brothers. Now, I play multiplayer games with my boyfriend when I have the time. I look the photo of me holding the controller but I realised that it wasn't totally flat. Thus, in stage 1, I replicated the controller totally, only changing the perspective to make it flat. In stage 2, I removed the lines that represented the contours of the controller so that it looked even more flat. In stage 3, I removed the words and the directional arrows on the left, the logos on the buttons on the right side and the PlayStation logo on the middle button. In stage 4, I removed the top and middle buttons. Lastly, in stage 5, I decided to change the directional buttons on the left to organic shapes. In this case, I changed them to circles. During the critique in tutorial, some classmates commented that they felt the PlayStation logo should remain in the ...

This photo was taken at Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) 2019 at USS. It was at a scare zone called Death Fest, which is meant to emulate a Death Metal Festival. The color palette I created from it consists of the following colors: The colors work well together, with majority of the photo having dark red-ish hues with a midnight blue hue to complement it. These colors convey a sense of danger and violence which is reminiscent of a death metal concert. The use of red is appropriate in the setting as well because it has connotations of blood, a typical convention in the horror genre and haunted houses. All these work together to create a scary and nerve-wrecking atmosphere to those who attend HHN.

One issue is that body paragraph is center aligned. This reduces readability because there isn't a consistent starting point. A solution to this would be to left align the text. Another issue is that the text for the header and the body paragraph are the same. Thus, the text looks bland and undifferentiated. In this case, the font without a fill colour also makes the letters hard to make out. Perhaps a fill colour would help. However, a better solution would be to change the font of the body paragraph. Complementary fonts should be used. A serif font should be used for the small body text while still using the sans serif font for the header.
